In this project, I explored the multifaceted dynamics within Girls Rock Sacramento, a program empowering young girls through music education and mentorship. By examining the cultural, social, and educational contexts that shape the program, the project delves into how Girls Rock Sacramento navigates gender, identity, and creativity in a supportive environment.
Through this work, I aimed to understand the complexities of fostering inclusivity and resilience in young musicians, highlighting the program’s impact on participants’ confidence and sense of community. This research underscores the importance of safe spaces for artistic expression and the powerful role they play in shaping the next generation of female musicians.
